Explore your Passion!
Imagine knowing your PASSION for beauty and getting an opportunity to have experience in aCosmetology school before you’ve even graduated High School! La’ James International College in East Moline offers a Vocational Class available to seniors in High School that have the PASSION for Cosmetology and the beauty industry!
The class gives seniors an opportunity to explore a Cosmetology Career. Currently, LJIC’s Vocational Class includes FIVE High Schools in the Moline area: United Township, Rock Island, Rock Ridge,Moline, and Sherrard. The class at LJIC is led by LJIC Alum and now Instructor, Monique McCaulley! “The class is offered annually and held from the beginning of high school fall sessions to the end of spring sessions, consisting of two semesters! The opportunity to explore a career before graduation is great for seniors who want extra experience!”
At the beginning of the fall semester, the seniors attend LJIC’s Vocational Class orientation where they get to meet peers from other high schools who share the same interests in Cosmetology and the beauty industry. During the school year, seniors attend an afternoon session Tuesday-Friday each week where they will spend a couple hours a day learning more about the Cosmetology industry and the opportunities within. “We cover a little bit of everything: manicures, pedicures, braiding, up-dos, facials, and make-up,” Ms. McCaulley states. If the seniors decide that a career in the Cosmetology industry is indeed their PASSION, once they graduate from high school, they can enroll immediately at LJIC and pursue a Cosmetology career.
Ms. McCaulley’s career started at LJIC also! She came to LJIC to study Cosmetology where she graduated and immediately began LJIC’s Teacher Training. “I came here and fell in LOVE on my tour! The campus was beautiful and the instructors were so welcoming! It felt like home with the small class sizes and comfortable atmosphere.” Ms. McCaulley credits her instructors for showing their PASSION for the industry and all the opportunities it has to offer. “I want to share with seniors in the Vocational Class what LJIC can do for each individual in the Cosmetology industry! You can LOVE what you do, be YOURSELF, let your creativity SOAR, and still have so much FUN!”
