Focus is Fabulous! 

A year ago, Shay Scott was contemplating the best time to follow her dream of doing hair for a living and enrolling in cosmetology school. “I’ve loved doing hair since I was thirteen years old and knew I’d eventually want to do it for a living! I just had to find the perfect time to enroll even though life was happening, I knew now was the time!” Now, Shay is currently enrolled in the Cosmetology program at La’ James International College in Davenport and is set to graduate in just a few short months! “I have loved my journey here at LJIC! Though personal life can get in the way, I just have to remember to keep moving forward and not let anything stop me from my goal!”

While attending LJIC, Shay has taken advantage of the AMAZING opportunities LJIC has to offer! She has attended LJIC’s Satin Smooth Class, LJIC’s Path to Perfection Class, and just recently attended LJIC’S annual Trend Vision Competition in October! “Trend Vision was definitely a moment that was empowering to me! Seeing so many different ideas from cosmetologists showed me that there are endless possibilities in this industry! Being able to explore other creativities and taking advantage of the different opportunities out there was awesome!” During her journey at LJIC, Shay has received multiple service and retail awards and continually building her clientele! “I have a lot of rebooks and clients that come in for me! It’s fun to see that I’m doing a great job. Knowing that the client wants YOU and they will come to YOU is a great feeling!” 

After Shay graduates she will continue her education in order to fulfill another dream, owning a salon! Being an LJIC grad, Shay will take advantage of the exclusive LJIC benefit and earn her Health and Beauty Management Degree from Iowa Central Community College! “I’m going to get my Health and Beauty Management degree in order to get all the knowledge needed to be successful! I would like to purchase a building and open my own salon one day!” Though some parts of Shay’s journey were easier than others, she keeps a positive attitude in order to achieve her goals! “Any journey you go through will not be 100% easy. You need to STAY FOCUSED, network, and make sure you take time out for yourself. Don’t hesitate your first thoughts, you’re wasting your time, just do it!!”
