Priceless Bonds!! 

“I did a variety of different ‘jobs’ before coming to the Cosmetology program at La James International College, Iowa City Campus. I was a cook, baker, welder, fish farmer, and a Mental Health Activity worker just to name a few.” Justin’s most important job is being a father to his 14-year-old son Jeremiah. “He is my most special award and the reason for starting this journey.”

“The journey is challenging to try and balance school, work and parenthood.  But the instructors are so helpful and attentive, they really do all they can to help you become successful.  The bonds created here are priceless!”

Justin chose La James International College because he liked the atmosphere when he came and toured the campus. “My most memorable moment was my first hair cut on the clinic floor.  I will never forget the thrill and nervousness of knowing that my dreams were coming to life!”  The most challenging part for Justin was learning to do roller sets. “I had to learn to just take my time and not try to rush through it.”  

After graduation Justin wants to work in a salon for a couple years and then eventually would like to open his own salon someday. “I just want to be the best I can be in all that I do!” Justin’s advice for others thinking about a CAREER in cosmetology is, “If you are not a people person, this is NOT the industry for you!”
