Fancy Ponytail Variation for Straight Hair
With straight hair, there’s so much room for customization. Here are some variations to take your ponytail from basic to “wow”:
- The Elevated Ponytail: Add volume to your basic ponytail! Tease the crown section of your hair and gently tug on sections of hair to create a looser and more voluminous ponytail.
- The Braided Ponytail: Level up your look with some braids! Start your braid at the crown or midway down your hair, and then incorporate the rest of your hair into a regular ponytail.
- The Half-Up, Half-Down Ponytail: For a playful vibe, braid or simply pull back the top section of your hair and secure it near the crown with a hair clip or small elastic. Then, gather the rest of your hair into a ponytail.
- The Embellished Ponytail: For a touch of boho vibe, add a statement clip, a cool hair tie, or a ribbon for a personalized look.
FAQs
How to elevate a basic ponytail?
Give your ponytail some upgrade by teasing the crown or using a texturizing spray for added grip and volume. You can also wrap a section of hair around the ponytail holder, braid your hair before securing it, or try bubble ponytails by adding elastics for a fun effect. You can finish with a pop of color from a scarf, a sparkly clip, or braid a ribbon into your hair.
How can I add volume to my ponytail?
For additional volume, apply texturizing spray or dry shampoo on your dry hair before styling for volume. Tease the crown or use hair bumpers for an extra lift. Finish with a hairspray to keep everything in place and control flyaways.
Will this work on my straight hair?
Absolutely! All of the tips mentioned here work great on straight hair. In fact, straight hair might even benefit more from these techniques since it naturally lacks texture and tends to lie flat.
