Meet Kaylen Lyord, a Cosmetology student at La’ James International College in East Moline. Motivation can come from anywhere or anyone. For Kaylen her inspiration to become a Cosmetologist came from someone near & dear to her…

“My mom went through the vocation program in high school and then went to La’ James International College after she graduated. I enjoyed watching her and I wanted to follow in her footsteps.”

What fears did you have when you first started school?:

“That I wouldn’t get the concepts down when I needed to or that I wouldn’t remember things well.”

What fun fact have you learned that will stick with you for life?:

“Using correct terms like ‘shampoo’ instead of ‘wash’, and then the one my mom taught me, ‘color’ instead of ‘dye’.”

Thank you Kaylen for sharing your experiences and for participating in this week’s LJIC TuesTimonial.
