Chloe job shadowed at a salon back home when she was in high school and so began her Journey to La’ James International College in Iowa City. But before Chloe determined Cosmetology was right for her she enrolled at Kirkwood for Elementary Art education. After a full year at Kirkwood she decided teaching elementary age children was not her passion.

Chloe started exploring her options in Cosmetology near Iowa City and found LJIC, “I planned to get my hair done for Prom at the Iowa City campus in high school.”  She did her due diligence in checking her options, “La James was the only school in the area that met with me personally and not just over the phone.  It felt right when I visited the campus.  I have had a positive experience at LJIC and I finally feel that I am where I need to be.”

One of Chloe’s most memorable moments so far since starting at LJIC in January 2017 has been her first client. “I thought it would be difficult to find clients or build a clientele but my first client was a friend from high school. He made it easy for me to feel reassured that I was doing an excellent job. It has not been hard to move forward from there; I am busy with clients. LJIC helps and supports me to learn the tools I need to be successful”

Chloe is still considering teaching in her future; “I am considering teaching a different type of artistic expression; COSMETOLOGY!! I am considering the Teacher Training programs at LJIC.  I can continue to grow and develop my skills to become the best I can be while teaching others. In Cosmetology, you can never stop learning and building you skills!”
